Inline thumbnails

For inline viewing, making an API call to the getThumb function everytime you encounter a moby.to short url, may be a bit overkill. It would be easier if you could retrieve a thumbnail by modifying to short url, right? Well, you can!

Add ‘:full’, ‘:square’, ‘:view’, ‘:medium’, ‘:thumbnail’, or ‘:thumb’ to the moby.to short url and you will be redirected to the correct image.

If the media type is video, we will return images, except for the ‘view’ and ‘full’ size, which will return the video itself for inline viewing.

For example:

http://moby.to/1234:square

Remember! Our guidelines specify that if you post a Moby on an external website, the Moby must link back to its Moby page. So please add the appropriate <a> tag.

Is there a way to tell whether it’s a video or image by looking at its URL? In yFrog I can do this by looking at the last letter of the URL, and I was hoping I’d be able to do the same with Mobypicture. Thanks.

No, not at the moment. Therefor you should call the getThumb action.

But, calls to the inline thumbnails for video’s also return the thumbnail, except for the ‘view’ and ‘full’ size, they will return the video.

But, good point, will look into that
